From a young age, I was captivated by the world of painting, a passion nurtured by my supportive parents. I still cherish the memory of completing my first large miniature painting at the age of 13—a 50×70 cm piece that my father proudly framed. This experience ignited a lifelong love for art.
Despite my deep connection to art, my aptitude for mathematics led me to pursue engineering at university. Although this path sometimes distanced me from my creative passions, painting was never far from my heart.
Exploring Fashion and Art
Over the years, I ventured into various art forms, from sketching portraits of friends and loved ones to creating intricate drawings of my son. I spent several years deeply immersed in Iranian miniature painting, honing my attention to detail.
In my final year of engineering, I discovered a passion for fashion design under the mentorship of an inspiring teacher. This new interest inspired me to launch Dukht., Iran’s first fashion and design website, alongside my engineering career. For several years, Dukht.com was the most active resource in the field, offering insights into fashion trends and providing a platform for emerging designers.
Balancing Roles and Embracing Art
Life’s journey brought me to Istanbul, where I spent two years as an art director, collaborating with Iranian artists and curating several exhibitions. A highlight of this period was a wearable art show, where I sewed outfits onto mannequins using painted fabrics created by two talented artists.
Although I later returned to engineering for its stability, painting remained a steadfast companion. Two years ago, I made the decision to dedicate myself entirely to art, a commitment that has brought me both joy and fulfillment.
A New Chapter:
Fully Immersed in Art
Raising my son alone made it challenging to fully immerse myself in my artistic activities, but now, as he grows older, I feel more focused and energized. My son has become one of my biggest supporters, encouraging me to pursue my creative dreams. Today, I dedicate myself entirely to my art, primarily using my iPad—a tool that has empowered me to bring my ideas to life in ways I never imagined.
My current work revolves around a collection titled “Chic Beasts.” This series is a blend of my two loves—animals and fashion. It includes both digital and physical pieces, created using techniques like oil and acrylic paints. Through these creations, I bring animals to life in all sorts of outfits and situations, merging my passion for fashion and art into one playful and intricate collection.
Although I have a special affinity for crows, often featuring them in my work, I sometimes find myself deeply engrossed in painting kingfishers for days on end. I also have a strong fondness for horses and fish, and my love for animals extends to eagles, owls, and monkeys, which frequently appear in my art. Simply put, I am deeply in love with animals, and this passion drives much of my creative process.
Detail-Oriented Creations
The years I spent working on miniatures have made me deeply attentive to details—sometimes I can spend hours perfecting just the upper part of a bird’s clothing. The stories behind the animals I paint often reflect my own mood, but most of them carry a mysterious and confident aura. While crows, my favorite birds, frequently appear in my work, I also find myself captivated by other animals like kingfishers, horses, eagles, owls, monkeys, and fish. These creatures, each with their unique charm, inspire my creations in various ways, and I plan to continue exploring these themes in future works.
Expressing My Emotions
My art often serves as a reflection of my emotions and personal experiences. The years I spent working on miniatures have made me deeply attentive to details—sometimes I can spend hours perfecting just the upper part of a bird’s clothing. The stories behind the animals I paint frequently mirror my own mood, and while most of them share a mysterious and confident aura, there are times when my concern and melancholy find their way into my work. This emotional depth is especially evident in a separate collection I’ve titled “Little Melancholic Fairy.” In this series, I explore themes of sadness and introspection through the portrayal of animals, capturing a more somber side of my artistic expression.
Self-Portraits and Personal Reflections
Over the years, I’ve also explored self-portraits, creating a collection that offers glimpses into different moments of my life. These works go beyond traditional portraiture, often depicting me in various situations and spaces within my home. Currently, only a few of these pieces are published on my website, but they represent a deeply personal aspect of my art. While I’ve shared only a small selection for now, I look forward to seeing how this collection evolves. For more insights into this journey, you can explore the dedicated section on self-portraits on my website.
